N° 62 of the limited & numb. edition of 120, all prints signed by the artist, colophon signed by artist & author. - Jean-Émile Laboureur (1877-1947), born in Nantes, went to Paris to study law but turned to print-making. With the advent of Cubism he developed his own distinctive style with its sparse lines and elongated figures. In 1914 he became an interpreter to the 12th Division of the British Expeditionary Force in France and spent much of his time sketching, producing these light-hearted but affectionate depictions of the British at war. After WWI he worked mostly as an illustrator of literary works. He wrote several books and articles about the art & craft of engraving.€ 1000
